I was a bit dramatic in November and decided to take a break from both posting and reading blogs. Now, with a two month breather behind me (and a massive pile of lovely catching up to do in my reader), I started thinking about whether this break taught me anything new.
I have to say, as much as I absolutely love sending my thoughts out into the internet, sharing photos and connecting with people (and mooning over the seemingly perfect lifestyles of a lot of the blogs I read) it was really refreshing to just get on with life. I was getting used to a new hectic schedule and needed to just veg for a bit. No one needed to see regular new posts from me talking about how I came home from work to watch Breaking Bad on my laptop before going to sleep. But I needed to have the permission to just conk out.
I also suddenly had the permission to just get on with things and not worry about the next post around the corner or think 'I have to go do this thing/make that dish/take that photo this weekend because it's my only chance to do it in time to get it on the blog next week.'
So, what did I do with myself? Well I did watch an awful lot of Breaking Bad, I read, I ate way too much pizza, I went to a few parties, had a shopping day out with my mom, cooked with my dad and slept a lot. It was lovely, but now it's time to get active and do things again.
I'm looking around my room and seeing some dusting that I could be doing, poking my belly and thinking a few sit ups wouldn't go amiss and getting kind of excited about what's going to come next. And I don't care how super optimistic and silly that sounds!
Have you ever just 'let go'?

I did over my little break and it felt so good. BUT I got nothing accomplished...ha and somehow it made me feel bad. If only we could do that all the time. Wouldn't that be the life? Glad you had a good time on your break!
